This is my new favorite token. From a restaurant that hasn't been in business since 1900, from Farmers burg Iowa.
Edit: ** I went to tokencatalog.com at the advice of a fellow "treasure-nettian", and found out this restaurant was circa 1934-1937, not 1890's-1900 as I was originally told.**
Great save from a 'sleepy' town (population has hovered around 300 for over 100 years).
5 cents in 1920 is the same as 61 cents today; a big losss for one coin or token.
Don.....
I love how personal this item is. It has the restaurant owners name on it even. The building is still there, and is still a restaurant. But Mr. Lenth sold it right at the turn of the century according to their city hall.
Over 25 people with the Lenth name are buried in the local Farmersburg-Wagner Cemetery. With a total population of less than 300 souls in the 'town' today, the local phone book might land you a living relative--should you wish to offer the return of the token and, in the process, learn more about Alonzo and his restaurant.
Don......

Thank you thank you thank you! That is so cool to see ones name on something like that! I do hope you have credit for finding and uploading the photos. That work was yours.
