OOPS !! lost my text. 1890 I.H.. Dime has a pinkish red color to it and when I pulled it I thought SILVER (coin wasn't black) turned it over to see the date 1967. Copper rod was Dozer pulled and I found a 15" lead pipe. The ASTOR plate was in one piece but as I started to clean it I realized it was very fragile

Good digs ! :icon_thumleft: those pipes are tough to un earth :coffee2:

Hey Rich, IH's always welcome! Especially when you go through all that to get it!

If we get to selective on what signals to dig or not to dig we will miss way to many goodies. Alot of the I.H.s at this site looked like junk on the MD screen. That's one reason why sites are not hunted out. If I wanted easy pickens I would go to the coin shop to get what I want. Having a good time Metal Detecting is relaxing for me.

You must be relaxed!! Lots of diggin. Any ideas about the aster plate?
Nice IH

Nice IH Rich,,,

The plate is probably from an old Astor console radio...

Astor Radio Corporation was an Australian radio manufacturer that began operations in 1926. Astor were based in South Melbourne. Astor was considered to be progressive by offering radios in a variety of colours compared to many other firms that offered the standard wood cabinets. Astors greatest claim to fame may have been the fact they conflicted with the huge Walt Disney Company for naming one of their radios the Mickey Mouse. Legal action soon bought the use of Mickey Mouse logo to a screaming halt!
Astor later took over the radio firms Eclipse and Essanay. During the 60s Astor were amalgamated with Pye who were eventually swallowed by the giant Philips company.

Thanks John, there are holes at each end probably for rivets or screws.
