Finding silver at the zoo parking lot has been like catching fish out of a barrel. I've been hitting silver 6 outta 6 hunts at this place and today turned into another great hunt. I started off driving 2 hours to site early this morning only to have to leave after 45 minutes due to high winds and rain. I did find the 2 US collar buttons before heading back home.
Since the weather was cloudy and cool, I had the zoo parking lot to myself today. I grabbed the CTX and started swinging, not expecting to find much
First pass I get a real iffy signal 7-34 5-36 and was thinking pulltab all the way. Hack my way thru the thin layer of asphalt and packed gravel and dig a shovel full of dirt out and find a nickle
Check the hole and turns out Mr Jefferson had some company, a Merc
Next good target is another funky, but repeatable signal, low and behold a Rosies comes out. I swing about a foot away from the rosie, over one of my old dig holes and get a 12-44 11-46.....What
Turns out I reburied a Merc in the hole Duh lol
I made a couple more passes and pulled out a couple of wheats, when I get a sweet 12-46 that's repeatable...this is usually something good, and it was. I dig up a black round disc the size of a quarter, it's completely covered in a crust that makes it impossible to ID. I was able to scrape the edge and spied a shiny reeded edge, it's a silver something
I dug a couple more wheats and decided to call it a day. Turns out the quarter is a SLQ that's wore almost slick, but, that's ok with me.
Today's silver count puts me at 24 for the 6 hunts within the last 8 days and 44 YTD My next hunts will be looking for the lower conductive hits from 11 and up on the CTX and the Equinox.
