7 Hour Belle Isle Hunt

Hey all,

Got out with my buds Jim & Rick today. We went back to Belle Isle. Its our 1st Group Hunt of the Year.

Anyway...searched for about 7 hours.

Amidst all the pulltabs, bottlecaps, trash...etc...still managed to have a decent outing.

Found 61 Coins Total.

Got 49 Clad for $4.29

24 Pennies, 2 Nickels, 12 Dimes, 11 Quarters.

Actually 4 Quarters, 1 Dime, & 1 Nickel stacked on top of one another.

Found 3 Canadian Coins; 2 Pennies & 1 Dime.


Made 9 Good Finds:

6 Wheat Pennies: 21, 42 (2), 48S, 52D, 57D
1903 Indianhead Penny
1943 Mercury Dime
1947 Roosevelt Dime...In the same hole as a 1960 Memorial Penny!


Man oh man...thought for a minute I had found a GOLD COIN!!!

Check out a few of the pics...this little gold looking thingy is about the size of a dime. Flopped out looking about as bright as it does in the pic. Have no idea what it is, but it does have some weight to it for such a little thing.

Also some sort of junk ring with a blue stone.


Jim and Rick each managed 15-20 Wheats.

Rick got a 1944 Mercury Dime
Jim scored a "FULL LIBERTY" 1911 Barber Dime


All and all...a decent outing.

Not a bad haul there. Never been to Belle Isle. And unfortunately, the only way to hunt it..or ANY Detroit location is in a group or armed.

Kind of funny you mentioned it Diggit...I had a gun in each pcoket. LOL.

@Famliy Fun...there is NO MARKINGS at all on the piece. Actually kind of hollow on the reverse.
