8 Boxes...Bad News.....

Four boxes yesterday & four today....mixed results. The bad news...three of the eight were new dates of 7-12-07 & all skunks.

Two weeks ago a teller told me they had run out of boxes & had to get them from someplace else she told me so I thought...hmmmm? That teller gave me two boxes that were marked from another town 2 hours away.

I marked some coins a while back (last month) when I started using this new dump bank with the coin counter and I found my own marked coins in the three skunk boxes. My heart sank. I got them back so fast. There is no doubt I will be getting my own rejects in these boxes from now on unless I change my strategy. I have to find a different buy bank and then I am not sure that will solve this issue. I am pretty sure the boxes will all come from the same distribution center. This may be the beginning of the end for me. My head is spinning trying to figure this out.

I have been buying brinks 5x5x2 unstamped boxes for almost a year. The boxes I that I got more than 3 months ago almost always had atleast 10 silvers and often many more. With 55-58 as the most. I have marked a few here and there and never gotten them back until the last few months. Now it seems that every box I buy has atleast 2-3 of my marked coins and I haven't marked any in 2 months because why mark your dump batch when it already had some marked? The bank I buy from and the bank I dump both use brinks.

I have found another bank in town that said they will order halves for me after I open an account. I put a bit in a 6MO CD @ 5.16% And they are supposed to order 1K for me next friday. I get the idea they usually only order bi-weekly. Maybe I can get them to order me 2K every other week. I have hopes this source will produce and I won't be getting boxes I have searched with 2-3 40% coins added in the mix with a skunk box every second or third pickup.

I have bought some quarters and nickles from this new source. The box of quarters were marked CWI #94 JUL 02 2007 and looks kinda like the 5x10x1 halves boxes with the franklin peep holes.

We both may be on the low part of the roller coaster but I'd still trade places with you.

I agree. Thems much better #'s than my "beginners luck" box. I've got another box coming Friday to see ifn mine was par or not for this area. Maybe you could order straight from the reserve for 8 boxes a week- OK bad idea.

I am not complaining about the 5 boxes that held silver. I think ya'll missed what I was trying to say. Maybe I didn't make it clear enough...sorry about that. I think the good boxes I have been getting are now a thing of the past for me.

What I am disappointed in is now I am getting my own rejects with the 7-12 dated boxes. I have dumped probably 50 thousand dollars worth of halves at this bank. They obviosuly are sending them back to the Feds to the nearest distrubution center. I am now getting these same coins back in my boxes. That is what I am disappointed about. 3 boxes, same date...each one held my rejects....all skunks.

I'll figure something out.

Sorry having a hard time finding compasion looking at your totals for the year but if you've searched $50K you may have sucked up all the closeby silver. May need to travel further for a new source. HH Mark

I just did 3 boxes of halves. TWO keepers. A 67D and a 68. that is ALL I got.

Any advise on how to "only" get 117 keepers from 8 boxes?

Well, look at it this way, LJ... at least the 3 skunkers means that you didn't miss any the first time around!!

L.J. I think you have done a lot of work and it has paid off well. Since you live in a small town you may have raided all the available halfs. How many 90% halfs have you found ? I do think there will be more returned into circulation as time passes.

Thanks RSC. Yes, I will keep the positive attitude.....I was a little down but I am over it now. I will keep plugging away even though my findings will be slimmer. As for the 90% I have found....a little over 800.

JRF - That is exactly what I am trying right now. Different banks in the surrounding communities. I am actually trying to find an area with a different distribution center than I have been working. Maybe you can try the same thing. Keep plugging......be persistent and think it out.
