Found this coin while metal detecting this weekend. I have found another cut reale on the same property. Was hoping somebody could help me identify more information about it.

My guess is the coin is older. The 8R Mexican coin of 1755 has a diameter of 39 mm.
8R coins of the previous monarch (Felipe V) are of a diameter of 40 mm.
Based on my measurement, the coin of the IP is about 41.8 mm.
Though a real coin would not be that large (and I'm not suggesting the IP's coin is other that authentic), I would favor the older series 1732-47).

I would imagine you did your best measuring the cent and subject coin using the pic! I did the same and although I know that attempting such, the measurements would never be ideal especially when the pic was taken at a slight angle, I did so anyway. In doing so, I came up very close to a 40mm (actually 39.9mm) diameter size for the O.P.'s cut 8 Reale coin.

Frank,
For what it's worth, I did the measurement again and came up with 39.7 for the OP's coin; still larger than the standard for an F-VI coin.
I'll stick with Felipe V.
