Hi Nana, interesting find. How thick is your dagger? I have a old brass letter opener in that shape but it is very thin, I can tell from your pic if yours is thin or not? HH

Glad you found the cold spot Nana....85 degrees already in Bama,Wow....the dagger lookin' thing is part of a farm implement of some kind, don't know the real name but I've found quite a few in the field's up here..Glad you got out and congrat's on your find's.....HH!!

Nice finds Nana. Did you find these at your regular spots?

Nana,

nice artifacts.

Any chance that "dagger" is copper?

Long shot, could be part of a lighting rod set-up.

have a good un.......

Way thicker than a letter opener Maria.... A farm implement Civil? Wonder what for? This is the same log cabin/barn site as last week Love...I don't think it's copper Sherm...does copper corrode like that?

:P

Nana, if it was too hot you should have rolled down the window ...now that you found the crank to do so. ;)

Hope you had a cold one in the fridge to go with the finds! Keep us posted on the "dagger".

Nice variety of finds....nana. :)

You found an organ grinder's handle like I found last year. ;) :D

Hey Nana, hope you don't mind if I post a pic of the one I just found, it's still in cleaning. The left is of the front, the right one is of the back. It was from a 1800's Estate. I really wonder what it is and hope someone here can tell us. Mine is 6 inches and the back has an area to slide something else into. I found a long rectangular iron piece near it, so I was thinking it was a decoration for an old iron fence or gate. Not sure. Must be the week for the daggers! Thanks for posting it Nana. 8)

Nana,

A lil bit of this & a lil bit of that...you're finding a lil bit of everything. Those nice sunny days are upon us & now an extra hour in the evening to hunt only if the mosquitoes don't cart us off.

That dagger looking thing looks like part of a harrow, I could be wrong but that's what it looks like to me.

HH ;)

Neat finds Nana, it sure does look like a dagger but probably a plow part. HH, Mike

I found one just like that and it was confirned to be part of a farming plow.

NANA, Nice Haul, Congrats, on Your Relics, Good Hunting. trk5capt...

Nana,

Cool finds, too bad you were so hot. Anyway, the thing in question is without a doubt (in my mind) is from early 1900's sickle bar used to cut hay. I've found several in the last few months and also I've seen these on the sickles in use. They are on the bottom and help keep the sickle slide and not dig into the ground, I'd guesstamate there around 20 of these on a 6 ft sickle. I've got one I'll take a pic and post it for you to look at and see if it looks the same. These are also used on combines & bailers.

HH,
Smartin

Nana,

The sickle slide you found is in preaty bad shape, so this may not be a positive ID, but I'd bet it is. There are many different sizes for similiar farm implements.
