I got out for 2 hunts the first on 9/8/09 was not much but today I popped my oldest coin yet a 1762 spanish 1 reale. a small chunk of silver from ? my usual 3 lbs of sinkers, a small mini sheath knife, 4 musket balls, a key, a nickle,a very corroded zincoln,a 38 special shell and another piece of metal that may be silver, it does not feel like lead but maybe pewter.

happy hunting to all.
p.s. the 1762 was about 20-50 yards past where I located the 1/2 reale.

First GW buttons, now Spanish coins. They come in waves. Very nice.

Nice Milled Pillar one real. Keep on hunting the Ohio soil with a determined mindset!

WTG on that 1762 :icon_thumleft: I bet you hit that area again you will still find some more. Good luck

Congrats on the 1 Reale :headbang: Sure has been a week for Spanish Silver ;D

Nice find! I personally like the design of the Spanish milled pillar coinage.

I agree this has been one hell of a week for spanish silver. and yeah I like old spanish coins too the pillar coins especialy. my book does not show one of these, the standard catalog of world coins 1979 edition. it says there is no bust on these .

p.s. I finally found a way to clean off the iron deposits on my copper , "CLR" you wont believe the job it did on my 1828 coin. I tested it first on a couple of modern pennies and it did great, in the morning I'll add a few photo's .

have a great night ladies and gents, and happy hunting to all.
