A 2001 New York Quarter

I went to the convenience store today to get gas and they gave me some change back.I didn't realise to look at it but was giggling it in my pocket and heard it made a different tone.I looked at my change and saw a New York state quarter to what I believe is silver I didn't even think they made it in silver it also has a D on it i guess from Denver.I was wondering how much it might be worth thank you and HH

Look again. Some of the 2001 S New York state quarters are silver. Mintage of 889,697(info from redbook ).

It has a D below in god we trust. The edge of the quarter is silver no clad color at all.

Although it is possible yours could be an error, it is unlikely.
More then likely it is just clad that looks like silver.
