It was fantastic weather today so I was hoping to ask for permission to hunt at an old home that was being rehabbed. I instead went to a local city park to search for clad around the basket ball court. Before my coil went over it I saw a bank roll of dimes. My first guess was that it was an empty paper roll but my headphones chimed up as my coil passed over. I picked up the roll and found it to be full. The paper was still in good shape so someone must have recently lost it. I was thinking that I would have cheerfully dug half of those dimes over the period of a half hour or so. It just goes to show you how we in our hobby do this not for the value of what we find but for the satisfaction of some strange need. I compare my hobby to my friends who spend far greater amounts of cash on their hobbies. How much do the fish they catch actually cost? What was the real cost of shooting that doe. Your golf memberships cost how much? To be completely honest with my self the thrill of recovering a Buffalo nickel offers something that going to a coin shop plopping down a mere $50 and buying a nice coin could ever do.
I'm glad I'm not the only one!
Now where is that roll? Any silver in it?
