Finally got out to do some detecting. I did make it out last weekend but nothing significant found. There are 3 things that have to happen when door knocking: 1) They have to answer 2) They have to say yes, and 3)You have to find something :laughing7:

Well I found something today, somethings worth sharing at least. I've been eyeing this 1860 home for the last couple of years. It's quite amazing that it has survived considering Sherman ordered the torching of this town in 1864. The owner had told me that it had been hunted a few times but they never found anything because the previous owner had added so much fill dirt. I responded by asking if I could try my luck anyway and it was well worth it.

Today's recovers include:
  1. A beautiful silver thimble
  2. 1914 Barber Quarter
  3. 1953 Roosevelt Dime
  4. Seven wheat cents
  5. a neat round mount - not sure what it is exactly
  6. a banal button
  7. Smashed Minié ball
  8. modern change, and
  9. an assortment of junk
Thanks for looking.

A nice bunch of finds from an empty yard. :)

Love the thimble.

I’d say a great day to detect. Good job!

Ha, yeah, it was a great day. Beyond the title, I don't elaborate but I had meant it was a beautiful day outside: Sunny - mid 60°F - very nice day.

What I thought was just a plain ordinary button turned out to be US military button. I believe it is an 1854 - 1875 'General Service' button.
