I'm thinking the first one is part of a brush handle. Shaving? Painting? Broom? Seems pretty old/fragile. I suspect brass, copper, tin. There is a bit of fibrous material showing. Just not sure.

The other piece appears to have fallen out of something like a badge of some sort. Md emblem if I'm not mistaken.
Any ideas?

Thanks!

Hi Breezie!

Yeah, I think it is a remnant of a brush of some sort.

The emblem? The colors appear to be porcelain set in a brass casing. Almost like a stained glass window, only the back is solid. Seems old to me.
It might have broken off a badge of some sort.

Thanks!

I think your shield may be cloisonne since it is made up of small glass cells, and the back is solid. If the back were open, it would be Plique-a-jour. Plique-a-jour is enameling like cloisonne except the back is open to allow light to past through, which is like a mini stain glass window.

Neat find :) Breezie
