Does anyone recognize any details what might be a button with an eagle clutching arrows?
Found metal detecting an 1806 homestead in New York to State.
Thanks!

Looks more like a lid than a button.

Maybe a saw medallion from a hand saw? Here's one I found next to a non dug one. This one has a post on the back, and is circa 1840s. 20200831_163730.webp

Things would be easier and more coherent if there weren't two threads on the subject.

After seeing the underside, I agree w/ creskol that it looks more like a lid than a button. The small grooves along the rim probably help remove the lid maybe from a inkwell bottle:dontknow: It is still a neat find!
