Decided to experiment with some settings on my EQ 800 for a half hour before dark & going home for the night. I went out to the side of my shop & dug 4 1960s-70s pennys, a 1969 dog license.......and my last signal a gold ring. I immediately went back into my shop & cleaned it up. 1966 class ring! It hits me that’s the year my dad graduated & I’m thinking “no way”. Then I notice the initials “GKR” inscribed on the inside....my dads initials! My shop isn’t far from his house! Needless to say I will be returning it to the owner! ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1579737802.302385.webp

Nothing like returning a ring you already know who it belongs to.

That is such a cool story!! I have an ACE 400 and am wanting to get an Equinox this summer. How is that transition going for you? I have only been detecting 14 months...

Awesome!!! Congrats!!! Good Job!!!

To follow up.... I didnt tell my dad what I had found. They were in Pittsburgh when i dug it. So, I put it in their house on the kitchen counter top where I knew they would immediately see it when they returned. He called me about an hour ago. He was amazed, surprised, and very thankful! He said he lost 51 yrs ago while working with his bird dogs from what he remembers! Made me realize one of the cool things about this hobby....pretty much everything we dig up has/had a story, we just arent always fortunate enough to know it! Thanks for all the replies.

Hair is standing up on the back of my neck!!! Wow!:hello2: Honorable Mention Vote!:notworthy:

Thanks! I have a ace 350....but never used it to really "hunt". Basically we used it at work to locate waterlines, valves, etc. I got the EQ 800 about 4 months ago & really like it. So, I really didnt have much experience prior to the 800. Once you get a few hours on it you will love it! Also, there is tons of info & tips on this site regarding the Equinox. Enjoy & Good Luck

That is one cool human interest story. I really enjoy a 51 year reunion. Congrats on the one being able to reunite them

What was your reading on the eq? I found my first ring today but its not gold

what are the odds of that? Like a trillion to one? Amazing happening here! Congrats!

What a great story!!!! Honorable Mention for sure!!

Solid 22-23 one way & jumpy 18-20 the other way.

Great story ! That was probably one of the easiest returns I have heard of on the forum.
