I got out for a quick hunt while on break this am!! I was surprised to find this lighthouse button so far away from shore up here at 9700 feet!! The Quaker oat button is neat, I can't seem to find a simular one but I just started researching it. Canon City has a blossom festival that stemmed from this fruit day festival. It is a big deal down there every spring!! Also a mystery button I need to clean. Happy Hunting, hopefully we all will get out more now that fall is settling in! Thanks Wildcat! Cleaning items can sure be rewarding, I do enjoy slowly seeing something come to life!!
Thank you professor! It was nice to get out before some cold weather blows in! I sure am curious about the Quaker oats piece, it looks more like a rivet or a cufflink!

Nice finds, Congrats!

Never heard of "Fruit Day", so I looked it up. There's an interesting history plus some contemporary pictures on the Canon City Museum blog:

It all began as “Fruit Day” on September 20, 1894. Besides the fruit exhibit, the day was filled with activities such as firemen’s contests, street parades and dances. It was estimated that 10,000 people came and half of those visited the penitentiary [now, that's a day out for the kids!]. Tickets on the railroad excursion trains cost $5, and free carriage rides to the orchards were available. It was a good fruit year and 16 tons of fruit were given away – plus several barrels of cider were consumed.

Thanks Red-Coat!
Canon City is down the hill from here. Lots of small towns had a fruit day. Canon city's morphed into "Blossom Festival" it is a very popular attraction!! We just made apple cider from a press at our tractor museum in our town. Thank you for the link, I'm surprised they had a penitentiary at that time!
Thanks Jeff!! You sure don't find anything if you don't look.

That souvenir badge is awesome. Great find.
