A couple firsts for me...I'm VERY happy!!!
On Saturday I noticed that they were tearing up a BIG section of sidewalk near the old courthouse here in town, I think that the courthouse dates from the late 1800's early 1900's. I took my detector up there on Saturday for a fairly short hunt...it was extremely hot out! I only was able to cover a pretty small area by myself but ended up finding some wheat pennies, a couple bullets and a couple firsts for me...two 1901 Indian Head pennies and a 1904 Barber Dime!!! The dime is in pretty bad shape but I was still VERY happy finding it! I've found Mercs. and such, found a 1852 Large Cent all when I lived in New Jersey, but never an Indian Head penny or Barber dime...old finds are pretty few and far between down here in Florida.
I decided to go back on Sunday and cover the area slowly and hit it hard, called my Brother up and asked him if he wanted to go. I picked him up and we ended up being there for about 2 hrs or so. I'm pretty sure we pulled anything good out of there. I found a couple wheat pennies and some more bullets, he found some pennies, odds and ends, and a 1898 Liberty Nickle!! I was happy that he got something decent out of here. I talked to a county worker that was doing something in the building along side the sidewalk and he was very interested in what we were finding. He thought that the Liberty Nickle was very cool! Anyway, here are the finds, not sure if they'll be pulling up anymore sidewalks in the area but I'll be keeping my eyes open...
