My first thimble and "India" ring.

Back to my Reisterstown park today and had the opportunity to speak with the Rec and Parks employee 'on duty' today.
I had a couple "firsts" today: (1) what appears to be a silver thimble, and (2) an INDIA ring. I could use your help in identifying the thimble. It is not marked 'Sterling' and the only marking I can find is what looks like a "7", which may be the size but could also be a hallmark.

There was one wheat, a good-looking '42D, and some clad.

The last two pics show an unknown and what may be a lead ring and cap. Any ideas??

Thanks for checking these out. Your comments are welcome.

In MD? Neat, my mom is from Westminster.

The last thing looks like the top to a pocket watch.

Nice haul there! :occasion14:Is the India ring really light weight ?

Light indeed. Don't know what these are made of and why they're marked "INDIA".

Your thimble really seems to be silver. Looks like you had a lot of fun there.

that thimble is almost certainly silver, did you look on the inside for a hallmark

THIMBLE IS BEAUTIFUL AND THE ONE PIC LOOKS TO BE AND OLD RULER BRASS PEICE.

Congrats on a good hunt. Those 2 silver items are cool. What coil were you using?

Nice finds, like that thimble...

Nice finds! Congrats!

Would be aluminum most likely have found at least two or three out here from older sites , they are smaller and narrower bands. Think they went on to making more fancy ones. Believe they are kids prize rings from fairs or gum ball machines.

Nice digs. That's just a great group of finds. Last pic looks like a drawer pull.

:thumbsup:Thimble. Real nice.

That is some Beautiful Finds, Congrats!

Good hunting in Reistertown. I live in Frederick area and hunt around here. I am new to the hobby and have been very lucky. I hunted at my school which was built in the 60's for the first time yesterday and was amazed at the number of targets. I hunted the length of a soccer field with one pass and pulled 28 coins. This is a middle school and most of them were dimes and pennies.

Yes, but no evidence found as to actual metal.
It has a slight scrap on one side that shows that it's not plated. It cleaned up as silver would with silver polish.
If it were aluminum I think it would have deteriorated badly over time showing browning and decay.
Looks like a test kit may give the answer.

Material reminds me of lead.

Hey L-D,

Just the stock coil from Fisher. Doing alright for me. As you know the larger coils are running upwards of 300 new, so I think I'll stick with what I've got for now.

Sutphin, Thanks for the id on the 'ruler' piece. Looks like the hinge point to two parts.
