My guess Fantasy Piece also .
Too decorative for a Real Fighter in Battle unless he wanted to be Laughed at :laughing7:

I agree. Looks german to me. No way it's functional with that design.

Agree with some kind of ornamental piece. And, it appears to be all one piece (cast).

Looks like He-Man's Power Sword (aka Sword of Grayskull).
Still a pretty cool find.

Listen, strange women lyin' in ponds distributin' swords is no basis for a system of government!

Supreme executive power derives from a mandate from the masses, not from some farcical aquatic ceremony!

My first thought is that the location was the site of a King Arthur re-enactment festival.
Your friend might go back and find a 100 such swords. :)

I think it was just a random drop. Given the location it was found, either someone threw it overboard from a fishing vessel, or it was a seasonal cottage owner that tossed it. Strange how it ended up where it did and why. Bet it got his heart pumping for a while

I bet it did!

If he found it off Oak Island he can probably get air-fare and guest appearances in two episodes of The Curse of Oak Island on the History Channel.

217 miles from where it was found, to Oak Island lmao.

OK, I know, brass, bronze and copper turn green. If the sword is not one of these metals, what caused it to turn green? Saltwater oxidation or crustaceans or something else ? I should know this, google was no help.

I think we ALL have had a few "Heart pumping" moments over the years, only to have them turn out to be a "Damn, Oh well" type of moment.
