Been a while since I've been out, and the last few hunts have been basically void of any good finds. Tonight I went out and found these coins, nice to have the 1932 Canadian nickel pop out, don't often find these. ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1440279051.613769.webp

The best find of the day was the arrival of my new custom made to order Carparelli guitar! It's been over five months since I ordered it, and it was worth the wait. ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1440279254.333467.webpImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1440279342.081396.webp

Whoa -- damned fine guitar is right! Something else we have in common! Great Bigsby bridge and tremolo system and gorgeous tiger striped body and the fretboard is a beauty!! I had to wait that long for my Rickenbacker 350V63! Love the Rick, though I have to admit the build quality on my Gretsch Chet Atkins Country Gent is hard to beat!

So you guys are hollow body lovers, eh? Congrats on the finds JC. Now you have something to do when you can't detect!

Old dude-- like today! Wife and kid are gone, and of course it's pouring rain...can't detect, but the guitar is definitely getting me through!!!

Wow, I'd LOVE a Rickenbacker, those things are so cool. Gah, and you have a Gretsch Atkins model too?! Man, we should jam lol!

Wow! Love the hollow body. Have been contemplating a hollow body to complement my other guitars. Been considering Gretsch or Heritage...but that Carparelli is really nice!

Thanks, I'm really happy with it. These Carparellis are top notch, and the price is less than I expected!

I'm happy to see there are other guitarists around here!

And some of us are retired because of old age and arthritis. My part-time job for years was playing in a band in Austin on weekends and I miss it. Always thought Rickenbacker's were cool, but heavy. Never had a chance to play a Carparelli. Not sure if they are available down here. I have had some decent guitars; 1966 Strat, 1963 Gibson 330, 1965 Gibson 335, 1976 Gibson 175 D, 2000 Gibson Dove and an old Harmony, an ESP and a couple of Ovations. Sold or gave them away a few years back. Enjoy your youth boys, it goes quick. Your Carparelli kicks ass. Congratulations...

P.S. I taught high school for 30 years and never had a discipline problem. We had a teacher band and when students saw you playing on stage, you suddenly became "cool". Sure made a difference in class. If you are a teacher at any level, give it a try...

Austin,

I'm sure you can still play some mean licks! Wish I knew ya when you were selling or giving away those fine instruments! The Rick I have is the 6-string version of the 12-string they gave George Harrison! Beautiful guitar. The Gretsch Country Gent is just an absolutely beautiful work of art! Keep in touch  Sounds like you're still cool 8-)

I know you know that the Gretsch is worth a small fortune now. Great, great guitar. So is the Rickenbacker. I hated Les Pauls because they were heavy and I was lazy. Try standing and playing one for a couple of hours. I loved the Strat because it was so light. I cannot even play now. My hand freezes. Nerve problem? I don't even own a guitar now, but I still fantasize. Now sit down. Ready? I paid $125 for the Gibson 330, $599 for the 335, $50 for the Harmony, $425 for the Fender(it went to the custon shop for an ebony neck with stars) and $2800 for the Dove. The Dove was in about 2000 and I thought it was outrageous. All but the 330 were new 1960's prices. I bought the 175 D for $695 in 1985. Lots of great deals in the old days. Oh yeah, the 330 belonged to a friend who just had too many guitars and a MEAN wife. I can't afford a thing now. I did buy a Epiphone 5 years ago for $100 from Musicians Friend. Decent little guitar, but I couldn't play anymore and gave it to a student. Just enjoy your youth and the chicks you can pick up.

I also have a Chinese Epiphone Casio from Musician's Friend....nice guitar and goes for about $600 or more right now (the Japanese model is really nice but more $$$). Some legendary guitars you had. I own a bunch of boutique pedals too that cost as much as guitars or more....D.A.M. and esp the Pete Cornish. Love to hear about the chicks you met when you were jammin'.......I got some great guitars, but I'm married now and it's just Tylerbdad who picks up the chicks :laughing7:

nice old Canadian nickel!, hey I know what you mean about this year, for some reason it seems to be real slow everywhere, no real explanation either, just slow. whether its lack of time to get out, or just not making good use of the time when I actually do get out, I dunno

sweet guitar!

Yikes you have had some quality gear go through your hands! It seems that guitarists are always selling or trading guitars, and everybody has one they wish they kept.

As far as the ladies are concerned, picking up a guitar was the best thing I ever did haha!

I'm sorry it's hard for you to play these days, hopefully you can still rock out once in a while. I fear that I'm developing carpal tunnel in my hands, my repetitive job as a drywall finisher is taking its toll.
