So yesterday I went to another picnic ground that I have hit pretty hard in the past. I spent the first 2hrs hunting over the same ole spots I've already hit. I decided to think outside of the box and headed to the woods adjacent to the grounds. Within 5 minutes I had a signal that I believed to be a wheat penny. I dug a plug and out popped this 1916s barber dime. Totally unexpected! My first barber. Had to go home but on the way out of the woods I dug this decorated carrying case of some sort. Pretty cool.

I meant to ask, how deep was it?

Great find! Thanks for sharing...

Nice, dime there! Can't tell for sure how big the case is. Could be lighter case, cigarette case or match case. Have found a few modern type lighter cases, some just disintegrate in the ground tho leaving shards, hard to get them all out proper.

I love your Barber dime. I would be proud to own that in my modest collection.
