Hi all,
Got out today. I had an okay day. Ultimately the wooded area I went to yielded me 2 silver dimes (a 1920 Merc and a 1951-D Rosie), 1 Wheat penny (1940), one very small fork, and a whole Coca-Cola bottle (1950's era?). The fork is silver-plat, though it must be really thick. I knew it wasn't solid silver, because it rang up as a 12-15 (nickel range). Though I had never dug a silver plat that came out with all its silver intact. If I hadn't known how it rang, I'd swear by appearance that it was solid. It also has maker marks (Holmes and Edwards) and an I and S stamp, which I believe stands for 'International Silver' which my research on the maker has yielded this is the conglomeration that bought Holmes and Edwards in 1897, though I bet the fork is from the 1950's. Either a child's fork or some kind of service fork. It is quite ornate.

It's been a good December for me -- 10 silver and silver on 3/3 hunts. Best month in terms of silver #'s for me for 2011 (i think February was my next best month...) only goes to show, hunting does not need to end in winter...
