Primary Interest:
All Treasure Hunting
Had a very short break in the weather and snuck out to an old mining camp site where I have found a flying eagle cent and Ron has found a Reale and an 1864 Indian Head Penny. Looking for the old relics and coins now that the grass is down. Got a shallow signal coming up 11-19 on the CTX3030. Was on the phone doing the old cell phone under the headphone trick and this beautiful nugget was only a 1/2" deep. Funny thing is, it was my detecting buddy Ron calling to see if I had any luck and I was about to say no. Was very pleasantly surprised to say the least! Weighs in at 3.8 dWt. But what a looker!

Its not often you see nuggets dug with a 3030.... well done!

We have been very lucky with the CTX3030 on gold, even small 4 and 5 grain nuggets, you have to listen carefully and dig those 12-01 to 12-04 low grunts. But we are detecting the old mining camps so we are always around diggins.

I have a question what is "dwt"?

Man what a beaut.!!

I have a question what is "dwt"?

It is the abbreviation for" pennyweight" there are 20 dWt to a troy ounce. Nugget hunters in the USA most commonly use dWt where in Australia and other countries they use grams.

Wow, 11-19 is a signal that I normally walk away from.
It is usually a pull tab on the CTX 3030.
Congrats

If I found that here I'd think it was a candy wrapper foil! Awesome find!

Gold Weight: 3.8 DWT, also known as pennyweight (equals 5.91 grams)

That is a beauty of a nugget. Definitely worth more as a specimen than its melt! Great find, and thanks for posting how it read on the CTX. Do you remember what setting you were using?
