I went out hunting with a couple of buddies from the Illinois section on two seperate days and this was my take excluding a bunch of wheaties.

These finds are from my last two hunts. ,36-s, '43 & '17-d Mercs, 6 Buffalo nickels, '03 V-nickel, 3 Tokens, a hurdlers medallion, and a .925 Italian 26" Silver chain.

Todays hunt started out with the "V" in the first 5 minutes, expecting it to be great....nothing until the last 5 minutes when I got the '17-d Merc.

But my most exciting find is this SLQ. I was digging a dime signal and dug out a 1910 Wheatie from under a root. I stuck my probe under the root and continued to get a strong signal. Being careful as to not hurt the mysterious coin from within the roots, I saw a glimpse of a large silver edge. I used my fingers to pry the dirt, and I saw the Eagle knowing its a SLQ. I turned it over, put it in some water, and after taking it out, I can tell it had great detail, but still remained dirty. I didn't do anymore field cleaning as I didn't want to scratch it. I'm glad I took it home and cleaned it properly. Check out the detail on this thing.

I have to say, that series of quarters is the best of them all (I don't count Flowing Hair type). The one you have is as pretty a coin as you could ask for. Glad you recovered it, and shared.

They don`t get much better than that. I`ll trade you two 64 wasningtons for it. WTG

That SLQ is one of the best I have ever seen, dug or non dug. Congrats on a great find.

then book is $120 even better!

Great great coin!!! I dug one that looked just like it.....except it was 10 years your coin's junior.....1927. And I sold the
coin for a pretty penny.....and have been kicking myself ever since. Hope you find a bunch in as nice as shape as that one,
but I doubt it. Keep it.....stare at it......remember when and where......and pass it to your little dirt diggers.
