Headed out with my metal detector to search over some freshly turned dirt for a parking area behind a temporary construction office for a local bridge replacement project here in town. Years ago a house and gas station were located there. Managed to find a 1961 Roosevelt dime, a Ford Model T valve stem cover, an old Slaymaker lock, a metal dome from an old bell, a buckle, and several old mason jar lids and porcelain inserts. 0.webp1.webp1a.webp3.webp4.webp5.webp6.webp

Love when research produces nice results! Good for you!

Great pics and finds silver is great

Way to work it and one of these days one of those mason jar lids is going to be attached to a jar full of old silver and gold coins, dang it!

Nice hunt, nice saves, congrats on the silver & all

Pretty cool stuff! Congrats! :icon_thumleft:

Helps us of my age reconnect with our youth. There was a station on every corner and full service was nice. Nicer was gas was 0nce $0.14 a gallon. You could fill up almost any car for less than $5.00 and if competition was hard you could get 5 lb of sugar or a dish or a cup or plate for your table with a fill up. Them days are almost lost to history. Never done any old stores or stations. My light bulb just came on.

Great recovery. From the pictures it seems that they changed the elevation when they removed the underground tanks. Might have been leaking. Would love to know where they put it.
