Hi everyone -
Been awhile since I posted and I'm glad to be back among friends. I appreciate the PMs from those asking about my two month sabbatical from the forum. In short, I needed a break. Catching up on daily posts began to take upwards of two hours out of my evenings. Between that and the actual hunting itself, my limited free time was becoming scarce. I've got many hobbies along with CRH (aside from just relaxing!) and I don't like any of them occupying too much of my time. I think I've reached a reasonable balance.
But anyway, on with the finds! The past two months have been decent, not spectacular, but there's a good news/bad news scenario as far as Vegas casino hunting goes.
Bad news: one of my regular Downtown haunts, the Las Vegas Club, mothballed their six 50¢ machines. That drops the number of machines in the immediate area down to 44.
Good news: I checked out a small casino a block or two east of Fremont Street, The Western, and not only found eight more 50¢ machines, but at least two dozen penny machines that actually take and dispense pennies! Woo hoo! I now have a regular outlet for penny searching again.
I still do boxes of nickels from the bank when I can, but most of my hunting is in casinos. Here are my finds since my last post in early May:
Wheats: 1928, 1941, 1945-D, 1946, 1955-D, 1956-D, 1957-D, 1958-D, plus a few random Canadians
Wartime nickels: 1943-P, 1944-D, 1945-D (2) and my oldest Canadian nickel to date - 1962
Franklin: 1961-D
90% JFK: 5
40% JFK: 55
Again thanks to those who checked up on me, especially LJ (who's still going like gangbusters I see!). If I didn't answer your PM it's not because I was ignoring you. Good to see the forum as lively as ever!
