Thats a NICE looking mortar. You know, the smaller ones like that were more than likely used to grind up things other than food. It woulda took a larger bowl for food preperation, so, if ya think about it....that was possibly something for medicines, paints, poisons...etc.
As far as the hand axe, I just dont know guy. If I did know about your area, I'd tell you for sure the the truth good or bad, but I'm absolutely unfamiliar with the lithics from up that way. Keep at it though, I've seen some goodun's from your posts as it is... :thumbsup:
 

Thanks jr--I just spent 20 minutes explaing the mortar, and the others I've found, and about the hand axe (?), to get dumped. Dang. I'm having big puter problems and TWC will be out tomm. I've had to go thru a proxy to post today. I can log onto other forums of interest, but not this one or others I normally do. I will explain what I think re: these 2 items tomm. Thanks for the input.
