I went to a new spot today in an area that has been good to me and was rewarded with what I thought was a KGIII but was actually a 1723 Hibernia half penny-a first for me.

Other notable finds included a small styled buckle, a complete lock and what I initially thought was a dandy button, but appears to have a bust (left facing)on one side so I'm wondering if it is a holed coin or a coin-button or something, any thoughts/info would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Can’t beat an old copper!! Those shovel hits can be a downer... I blasted what I think it a “rat tail” spoon yesterday and cut the tip off... happens... great finds and thanks for sharing!

Your doing fine, love the little lock and copper!

The other coin looks like maybe a Charles II copper, or a KGII copper. Awesome finds, I love the Hibernia, my favorite type of copper coin. It was the first copper I ever dug.

Maybe this?
The reverse looks different though. Maybe one of the experts on here will be able to identify it. Awesome coin though, it looks very old. Maybe a Canadian Halfpenny token too.

Looks like a holed coin to me

The buckle looks like a very early 18th C type & is bust in half.

Congrats on the coppers and other finds

Nice recoveries on the coppers and the little lock.
The little hit is just a friendly reminder "Dig wide-Dig deep"
Be happy it wasn't something that would rent space in the memory bank.

!700s that's freakin amazing I would give almost anything to have something that old for my displat case. Ann Arbor was founded in 1826 so the odds are very low. Thanks so much for posting it SWEET

Very nice finds, the 'holed' coin/token is interesting.
Not sure that it's one of our Half penny Tokens though, I'm pretty sure I can see the shadow of a left facing bust on it. :icon_scratch:

Congratualtions on the nice old coppers! :occasion14:

That holed coin is most certainly a KGII. I found one in almost the exact same condition as yours: the front all slick, the back unreadable.

You can tell by the flared out area above his forehead, which is some kind of coronet of ivy leaves or whatever the heck it's made of.

Great finds!
