A NY'er with a FLA MD'ing question

During this summer my family and I will be driving to Lee County Florida to visit my sister . I will be bringing my MD along . There are countless acres of undeveloped land to hunt on . Although she has never seen them my sister says there are rattlesnakes and wild boar in the area . What do you Floridians do as far as staying safe in these areas ? Is there anything else I need to look out for ? I do know there are plenty of gators near the canals to watch out for .
All help is greatly appreciated . Thanks , Don

The areas you would be metal detecting you would not need to worry about wild hogs. As far as snakes go you may want to invest in a pair of snake boots and walk away when you hear the distinctive sound of a rattlesnake. When all else fails let common sense prevail.

Don't worry about the wild boars, just keep your eyes open for snakes. Snake boots are expensive and really not needed..

Most of us in FL don't go in the woods in the summer to hot , to buggy , and nothing to find. There is a lot land in s west FL that has never had anything on it there were no settlers until the late 1800 and they were mostly on the coast. As for the pigs and snakes just make a lot of noise and they will stay out of your way.
