OK don't get too excited. You have to read my story first. I worked hard to get these. It was (again) a beautiful morning. Water was warm and calm as usual. Just a lovely day to be out hunting.

I had some company again this morning but this time I didn't get over excited. There was one ray about I'd say, 24 inches from wing tip to wing tip. It was a big one. Then right near that one was about 6 little ones. None came near me and I stayed away from them too. Heh heh I'm getting better!

OK You have waited long enough.

I found not one but two rings this morning. Neither one was expensive both cheapo's - I thought. I had hopes that one was silver but then my hopes were dashed but were they???? I actually can see a number on it but it is almost rubbed off and I'm not sure of what I am seeing. My eyes just are not so great anymore and even with several different magnifying glasses I still can not quite make it out. First I thought is said 825 but now .... maybe it does say 925. The 5 is almost completly gone but can just barely be made out. It is the first number that I just can't see clearly. OH Well it just doesn't matter. I GOT TWO RINGS! One is just a cheap squeeze on toe ring.

The other is pretty. I thought when I first pulled it out that it was one of those wrap around dolphin rings that I've seen you gng's find but no.... this one is a mermaid. She is pretty.

I didn't get any hits for a long while and then in one little pocket I got 3 quarters, a dime and a penny. The rest of the clad was in different areas but that one little spot was a nice little coin spill. Kept me happy for a while!

Total for the day was $1.14 in clad, two rings and various junk. It was a good day. I'll take it!

Try liquid silver cleaner. If it is silver it will shine right up.

It seems that you have passed the test. now you'll score like everyone else.

Congrats on the rings mumzie, good luck on the ID of the marks.

congrats on the rings Mumszie !!!
I picked up a set of eye loupes on ebay for a few bucks that really helps in seeing those small numbers on the rings. You might want to try that.
That mermaid ring is cool.

Nice finds mumszie...you make me want to get out there now, and it's 1 am.

Good luck your next time out... We want to see gold.

Mums,

Between the Manatee sighting and the Mermaid ring you must have a lot of luck coming, seeing and finding both so close together....

It is said Manatees inspired the legend of Mermaids, that ancient sailors thought the manatee was a mermaid - an honest mistake, perhaps, for a sailor to make after months at sea away from women.

Sailors would see some strangely shaped creature swimming by in the water. The front half of this creature had a head and arms (flippers) and back half had a tail like a fish. The only thing people knew that was shaped like this creature was a mermaid. Christopher Columbus mentioned the "mermaids" he had seen during his voyages to the New World. He wrote in his log that these "mermaids" were not quite as beautiful as the sailors had told him. (I guess he didn't like bald, fat girls with wrinkly skin and no front teeth!)

I think you will find the ring is silver and considering your location I bet the ring was a souvenir lost from Weeki Wachee Springs....

Nice find

Good luck and good hunting........
