A Saxon Site...

[CRUSADER]

We decided to try a field that has been shallow ploughed since we last searched & has never had the Deus over it. It has produced a mix range of stuff but we are hoping to fill that most difficult of holes in this years target - a Saxon Sceat.
After 3 hours 15 minutes we are fairly confident that we stand a good chance tomorrow, as we dug lots of medium-large sized bits of Lead etc..
Nothing Saxon today but we have only just gridded to the edge of the site, only time will tell...

I like the look of that Jetton never found an English one myself.
Saxon brooch and Sceat are high on my wish list, Saxon items just don't seem to show up in my area for some reason Given the history of my location (Wessex) there should of been plenty of human activity but nothing ever seems to come to light.

It took us many years to find our first sceat, now we have quite a few, but Saxon sites are something you have to hunt out, you can't really research them & they don't turn up as cropmarks.

We found it a few years ago, it's just whether we have cleared out all the finds. Bearing in mind they are all very rare.
