Not the most beautiful find but if I could figure out what it is It could go a ways towards identifying the site. Just under 3 in found se Kansas the material is hertha, in my opinion it was the cheap easily accessible material and was probably used for when the good stuff wasn’t available or after groups stopped roaming as far and had to make use of things in the immediate environment. Any id’s thoughts comments welcome.

Looks like a late archaic tool to me.

Is that an impact flute on the top or is the tip chipped purposefully that way?

the material has an attica chert look, sort of green and white with some striped area

I do not know either but have to say this new program is making uploading great photos like yours much better to look at.

Thank you I try to get the best pics I can for my records. I haven’t got a chance to get pics of the tip to see if it’s a fracture or worked.

Looks like it was broken, then worked a little around the edge, I don’t think it was ever a scraper with that flat face but maybe the tip was sharpened to be an awl or punch then that broke too?
