✅ SOLVED A Shell Casing?

My question is of object with pin. Its diameter is 13/16". It has no markings on back. It has the same wad base as paper shells. The pin travels through wadd into what looks like a primer. Any guesses?

Looks like An old Pinfire cartrige of some kind

Hi Rick,

It is definitely a pinfire shotshell base. I can not see what the headstamp is from the picture, but based on how the inside is built it looks like it is by Eley. These were used in the American Civil War in various sizes.
