A Shield, a star, and an R

Outside of that I don't really know what these are. Any ideas? The larger piece is about 2" in diameter. The shield has the state of Maine seal on it.

2" is about the right size for a bridle rosette, it also looks pewter which is common for them to be made of. Just a guess though.

I dont know what that Maine State shield is but its cool! It looks like it had nails/screws top and bottom to fasten it to...........

Michigan made license plates for a couple of years with an aluminum state seal that was attached to the steel plate. I don't know if Maine made them this way, but might be something to look into.

I agree with Rick. This appears to be a bridle rosette, similar to a few that I have found...mine are all approx. 2" in diameter. Nice find!
