We went camping this weekend at a state park. They are doing some construction in the beach area and the water is off limits after the swim ropes come out. They take the swim ropes out right after Labor Day and you can’t detect before Labor Day so that makes things tough on detectorists. I contacted the park manager and got permission to detect the beach when construction was not going on and I was allowed limit wading in the water. I interpreted that as waist deep so I did the beaches on Friday and Saturday I managed to cover most of the water allowed to me.
When I started the beach on Friday I noticed a lot of dog tracks and in one spot a dog had started to dig for something. As I got to that spot I got a mixed and variable signal on the AT pro over the dig spot so I started to scoop with my sand scoop. Looking in the hole it looked like someone had buried a pamper. I almost stopped, but there had to be something in the hole or I wouldn’t be getting a signal so I scooped again and dragged out a piece of cloth, a piece of string and a pile of items that must have been wrapped in the cloth. There were 3 quarters, 3 pennies, some cheapy pendants, polished stones, some sea shells, same dead flowers (carmantions I think) and a dead starfish. My guess is some child buried his treasure on the beach and forgot to dig it up before he left. Or maybe some parent set up a treasure hunt and missed digging up one of the treasure bundles. At this point it is anyone’s guess, this is my first cache and an interesting find.
I ended my 7 hours of hunting with 90 coins with a face value of $6.92, a toy car, and a lead soldier. I found the usual foil, a few pop tabs, fishing sinkers, water conservation coin, and the usual assortment of junky jewelry.
I got lucky with some of the jewelry. Two silver rings, a silver ladybug earring and a “grill” made of silver. A week ago I found teeth set in gold and now silver dental work. Maybe I should be a dentist.

A good weekend hunt with a nice assortment of finds. Still out there swingin and getting lucky.
Thanks for looking and may your coil lead you to good things.
