I found this button metal detecting a boys academy built in 1826
This brass gold gilt coat button has the image of US Naval officers button.
The back stamp says ?EXTRA QUALITY? in a style that indicates it is mid19th century.
Does anyone know if it is, or is it a civilian copy?
