sword is in great condition from what I can tell any ideas on value?

Major Treadwell was in the N.Y 7th artillery at Albany. He also Participated in a couple of G.A.R. reunions. I would get a hold of Sotheby's or contact the Albany Historical Society. Presentation swords are usually used to commemorate important events. Just from the little bit of reading I've done, it looks like he may have had something to do with Pres. Buchanan's Inauguration. Please let us know what you find out.......
