You can use the DFX on the beach? Does it work ok in the mineralized soil?

Multiple frequency works well in wet and salt environments, and still produces discrimination (unlike PI). I have read the DFX works well on a beach. I do not know about highly mineralized soil. Check out the DFX forum.

you could try www.dfxonly.com seems to have allot of programming tips there

I usually change the VLI numbers to accept down to -15. Some times it also helps to turn the 3khz frequency off if your hunting in dry sand.....................Tim

Using the DFX on the beach is a snap. I recommend bumping up the preamp to 3, then raise the AC sensitivity as high as possible while still being stable. Run both freq. in "Best Data", Set the sweep speed to about 5 or less, Recovery speed to 30, DC sensitivity to 45-55, Hot Rock to 15. If the DFX won't ground balance initially, don't worry, it will GB after a few swings.
Sweep SLOW to get the deep stuff. I also run in Mixed Mode, Tone ID OFF. I will get coins down to at least 10 to 12 inches, jewelery at least that deep. The main thing is to sweep SLOW. The stock 9.5 coil is great, a larger one is even better (12" Hot Shot or 10x14 DD 1400).

Good Luck,

The DFX works awesome on the beach. Raise the pre amp up to 3 and run the Ac sensitivity as high as you can with out getting false signals. This time of year I hunt with the stock coil or a 12" coil. Stay away from the dd 14 in coil It does not get any deeper than the stock coil and weights a TON. In the summer I hunt for fresh dropped jewelry and I use the Bigfoot coil and swing and walk pretty fast you can cover a lot of ground this way. I would also go to block edit and accept -10 up to +94 and reject +95 I have picked up rope chains that will come in at -3 to a +6 on the VID #s. If it is Gold Jewelry you want then it is hard to beat the DFX. I picked up three small gold rings in a park after lunch on turkey day with mine.
