Hey guys
Sept. 11 was by bday so on the eve of it i decided to do some detecting since i got out of work early. The town has been doing work on this old school and since they where ripping up the side i figured id hit that. Well after an hr of nothing good i decided to try my luck with the front yard. I have already hit this school a bunch of times with nothing more than some wheaties and pull tabs to show for my efforts. I figured id ignore the loud bangs and just dig the deep sounding signals. My thought process worked because a few minutes in I was rewarded with a 1920 Merc, and a nice Episcopal Academy of Cheshire coat button. at about 8 inches each.
I worked the other side of the walk and got a weird signal going from quarter to garbage. I pulled the plug and saw iron stains in the dirt so i figured just a deep nail. I scooped some more dirt out and saw a nice big silver disk next the my plug. O there was a nail alright stuck to my first seated coin ever. I have found like 30+ coppers and even a 1/2 reale, but for some reason i could not get a seated coin for the life of me.
I have never had a bigger thrill in 2+ yrs of detecting. Finally a seated coin was mine and it is a real nice 1869-s Quarter no less.
I have hit it since and found a cool patriotic civil war token and a civil war "I" infantry button.
Thanks for lookin
Keith
Ps sorry for the pics my good camera is down right now
