Agate help

Found this on the beaches of Lake Superior in the UP.
Can anyone tell if it's an Agate?

it's possible, it's got some banding, maybe a pic. of rock wet.

Nice banding and colors, would make a nice cab or pendant.

A good guideline is...

If it is opaque and doesn't pass light, then it is a jasper, a rhyolite, or similar material.

If it is transparent or will pass light, then it is either glass, volcanic glass, quarts, or an agate.

These are not exact rules, but a good example to use when you are first starting out. I know a lot of geologists and rock hounds will complain and want to argue the point, but it is just an example.

I used it and it didn't fail me.

No, not an agate. But keep looking, you're in a great area to be finding them.

Sorry it's not an agate, probaly sandstone. Nice find though!
