It has stamped on it "Made by James Heddon's Sons Dowagiac Mich 3-15"

I've had few of these types. Mid 20's I'd say....Looks like someone was flying a kite with it judging by the twine still attached.

Actually, the fishing line during that era was either braided or twine. The stuff will not rot. I think it is original fishing line.
