Hello!

I dug this badge today on the grounds of Western Oregon University in Monmouth. It reads SALEM FIRE DEPT. There's nothing written on the back side. I think it's nickel plated (or silver plated) copper ~ about an inch and a half wide, and an inch and a half tall.

Any idea how old this badge is?

I also dug a 1917 Walking Liberty Half there today also!

I don't know how old it is but it is cool!! Do you think it is from Salem Oregon? If so you might be able to find more information from your state and city/county historical society.

Those are still made in that style today. I would check with Salem and find out when that style was used.

The badge I wear on my uniform is the same style and make they have used for 50 years.

Rather than a shirt badge it looks like a pin that might have come off of a hat.
The marks on the back don't look right for a badge.
