Aggravating the hell out of me

Huh?

You don't think anyone is really going to click on that, do you? Really?

Call Minelab and send it back and they'll take care of you. It happens.

Made in Malaysia...

I've had my Equinox in the water four times, Friday, that fourth time, I started getting some static in my headphones and I instantly thought to myself, "Oh no, here it comes!" When I got home I unplugged the headphones to allow the socket to dry out which apparently took care of the issue, but honestly, Minelab has got to step up their quality control and they've got to quit cutting so many corners. The Equinox and CTX are touted as multipurpose machines and yet with so many problems everyone is afraid to use them in the water. Shouldn't be that way.

It will be fine. They raised the price this year.

Nothings worse than driving an hour and a half and seeing that your charge is not all the way charged especially with the gas prices going up with this potato head in office

The headphone socket water issue is actually mentioned in the manual (see p. 58 - “Headphone Socket Submersion”) but primarily in the context of water getting into the jack with no plug installed. Anyway, flush and dry it out makes sure no salt corrosion builds up on the jack metallic contacts. Internal seals behind the jack prevent water intrusion into the actual electronics.

Take a USB battery pack with you on road trips. RNB makes a nice one for the Equinox, but even a phone one works fine.

We should always have a backup detector, but I haven't had to reach for mine in years. Call Minelab.

Yeah I just can’t see having 2 800’s besides I can always use possum’s

I would NEVER have a backup machine the same manufacturer as my primary machine. My backup is a Tesoro Cibola.

Yes i would never have a back up of the same model either . I have a Garrett as back up sort of some times the Minelab is my back up.

Yeah I understand what y’all are saying I’ve had a F75, AT Pro and a AT Max I sold them after I bought the 800 and I need a quick money at one time so I sold all three planning to buy something else one day but never got to it because I’ll put so many hours on the 800 I really wouldn’t want to use any other machine. But yes having this problem and having it done twice already has me wishing I had at least AT Pro with me. Live and learn

Oh it hurts to get there and it doesn't work. Been there and done that and you think gas is expensive.
CTX3030 went south-Minelab warranty got it back to me the afternoon before I flew to England for my hunt.
I tested it when I got it and it did a little sputter and I blew it off-mistake. Got to London, went to go out for the afternoon hunt-turned it on and it died.
The first time I never took a back up machine-the owner of the cottages lent me his ETrac for the 2 week hunt.
Got back and I tossed it the corner (for 5+yrs) where I finally dug it out just a month ago-thinking I might send the POS back to Minelab to have a go at it again with the 2 service #'s I have gotten over the years.

I think you might be happy with Deus with a HF coil, it would be interesting if you could give one a go at your Fort site for a few hunts. I bet you'll might like it enough to switch teams. (Then again maybe you've tried one out before and hated the thing)

That is a story that could’ve went real bad if that guy didn’t have that he track I would’ve wanted to kill somebody. I would love should go to England my grandfather came over here from Wales. I think that’s where I got addiction for Metal Detecting. I think it’s in my welsh DNA. I remember my grandfather used to say when I was little if anybody ask you where you’re from you say you from Wales not England. In those days it was OK to ask somebody where they from? Lol I actually love my 800 I got a lot of miles on it but yeah you are right as well as smoky I should get that Deus with coil. If I could put that many miles on that one I bet there are some treasures at that fort that have eluded me. But I’m blessed that place has been haunted since the 70s not to mention the archaeologists. It just goes to show you luck It’s very important and the harder I work the luckier I get. Say I’m 53 and I’ve been Metal Detecting for almost 6 years now it’s started when me and the IRS had a disagreement so they took away my fishing license so after the third time being caught without a license which was $500 I bought a bounty hunter metal detector are used it a couple of times and it stayed in my garage. I’ll wave the white flag I paid the IRS the money they said I owed and then I went metal detecting For some reason and I found my first treasure which was a baby silver spoon from 1910 with the slogan” hey diddle diddle” and I was immediately hooked I came out of that water like a marlin I’ll probably fished a handful of times since then and all my fishing bodies thought I literally lost my mind and I agreed with them LOL it’s in the blood. 59339413351__2410F891-98D7-4F55-B20F-9AC7FF897E39.webp

Yup that’s where it all started but I realize that I got into this hobby late in life so I have to work smart and hard because I’ll have skill but I do realize that the hard work will not always be there so I got a lot of catching up to do. Well at least that’s what I tell myself LOL
