Well friends, it was another short day at the park. The orchestra was playing again from their pop-up trailer stage. They sounded quite good in the distance. There were at least one hundred in the crowd. The weather actually cooperated. It was a little hot but with no rain. I spent some time going around the trees...mostly the big old trees. That's when I found the 1943 S war nickle(a first for me). Continuing, I scaled the area's trees and was making a bee line from tree to tree, while not spending too much time swinging en route. I was just focusing around the trunks, slow and methodic. But on my way to another tree, my machine low to the ground and chirping away, I snagged a good sounding hit. Backing up I swung to make sure and decided to dig it. Aha...1919 D wheat. Cool. Ok, I needed to find another silver...just one...so I quit my tree rounding and floated over to the old concession area near where I had found some before..why not. Not a few minutes later, in that beautifully damp and sandy loam, a 1937 Merc was screaming to be let out.
Good enough for me.
I didn't have the pleasure of easy cherry pickins 30-40 years ago, so my detecting life is rearing up on the late and slow end. I think people have largely given up on the areas I hunt...fine with me, it's just that my own cherry picking takes a little more time...but I have proven that 'it's there.
Thanks for looking!

PS: On the way home Sunday night I just had to take a photo of the sun setting. This was just down the road from my home. Hope you enjoy it.
