After a trip to the public library....I found out of a stand of rocks in which was used for picnics and such in the early 1900's...and with a small amount of information I went out this morning to hopefully find the area. I stopped by a C-store near the area which looked like a local retired farmer hang out (kind a place where I will be hanging out after retirement) and after talking to some of the locals...had a home address so proceeded on. I drove to the home and talked with a lovely lady for quite a while and she semi gave me directions through the woods to this stand of rocks.....needless to say I had left my GPS at the house and after circling the woods like a buzzard for what seemed like days.....I did not find the rocks, but I was able to find my truck again...yay! Anyway, I stopped and chatted with the lady again and she said to come back any time and if I waited until the fall she would take me back there.....I can not wait that long ( anticipation ).....so armed with my trusty GPS I will return to the woods soon...anyway, wish me luck......gregd573....and I do hope she is not to mad about me harvesting out most of her good ticks and chiggers....lol, keepem' swinging...

Been there, done that, greg. When I talked to people about cellarholes, they would act like it was the simpliest thing in the world to find them. Sometimes they say left and mean right......"You can't miss it", they would say. Geez, I would wonder around for hours trying to find this obvious cellarhole.

I don't do that anymore. If I can't get them to take me, I ask them to draw me a detailed map. It saves me lots of time.

Thanks Mona sure glad to hear I'm not the only one.....lol. After my time spent in the woods I come home and got on google earth to look at the area around her house. I have a more clearer picture now. She had told me the stand of rocks were about as big as her house (supposedly hard to miss...hah, showed her) anyway there was an area on satellite that looked like it could be it and was in the general direction she was telling me, so hopefully I will be back there with my GPS within a week.
