I finished a $500 box of clear wrapped dimes today ( 3 total found) I spotted the silver edge of a 1947 readily, as I pulled it out I noticed strong goldish toning on the dime next to it which turned out to be a 1964. 2 silvers side by side. What struck me was the goldish edge had I not spotted the 1947 I might have passed this up as just another clad. This story gets odder on around roll 90 a similar goldish edge coin caught my attention turned out to be a 1952 S. The point of all this is dont just look for the obvious silver edge pay closer attention to reeding and toning

Yep, always check those rims that look "dirty" or toned.

Happy Hunting

Ditto, silver can often tarnish very dark; especially on the edges of dimes.

Nice finds.

I don't look for Silver edges. I look for copper edges. If I can't clearly see a coppper tone to the edge of a coin (or the copper/nickel divide), I always look at the date. Many a' 40% half that I have found were actually brown looking on the edge. I would not have gotten them if I were only looking for silver edges. Also, clearly 1/3 of the dmes I have found this year were almost black on the edge and I would have missed them if I were only "looking" for silver edges.

Take it one further. Look for any solid color edges. 99.99+% of the dimes you look at will be have the two tone silver/copper. Dates search anything is questionable. Harder to do with brinks rolls as you have to squeeze the roll out.

Ditto on looking for the non-copper edges. Most are just dirty copper, but it certainly pays to check (else why would we be doing this whole CRHing thing in the first place?). ;D

Note that I have yet to find a silver in the plastic-wrapped rolls, after more than $1,000 worth. I've gotten 3 silvers from about $200 of (apparently) CWRs. I will keep trying.

I almost missed one last week, so don't feel bad.

I am meticulous when searching, and just before I dropped that roll into the bucket, there it was, an ender. Very dirty and dark, but not black like many silvers you see.
