Last night I dug two melted aluminium blobs in my front yard. The detector behaved as if they were very large coins. They were about 6" down, 5 feet apart, and looked like mud-covered stones until I washed them off.

Residue from an old incinerator, perhaps. Has anyone else here found aluminum blobs like these? I found a smaller one the day before.

There's some crusty coinage in the picture for size comparison.

Probably melted aluminum cans. I have found many of them around camp fire areas.

I dig them alot. Could have been a fire there at sometime and someone dropped in a can.

Yah, Campfire Nuggets are a plague...

I found 4 on my last hunt... very decieving little blobs. >:(

Yep! EVERY time I dig one I say to myself "sucker" just before I start! :BangHead: But you know, you just gotta dig some of them because they sound so sweet!

they are blobs, but not very elusive. I find at least one every time I go out

Hello,

Are you sure they are Aluminum? We dig lots of slag like that, most are from spot welding, or welding.

Keep @ it and HH!!

I dig a lot of them at the beaches where they have had bondfires. Monty

them darn things make you think that
you found something really good...

Yeah, for a second I thought the bigger one was an alien embryo. It looked pretty creepy when I dug it.

i dug one up yeaterday for umpteenth time, there are many.

Dug plenty of those.
I call them "goobers".
Corroded Zinc Pennies are "Skunch Pennies"

I hunt a couple of old house sites that obviously burned down. In order to find the goodies you have to dig every blob. :BangHead: I only go there when I don't have any other place to go.
