Went out door knocking for metal detecting permissions today. No luck but did see this. Took the pic just for you guys.

We've got some Amish in southern Colorado now. It's kind of cool to hear that trotting sound.

Lancaster ? or Bird in hand ?

there are allot of them in my area .
Though they are friendly.
The young girls Scary Friendly when they see you driving by on the back roads.
they always wave & Smile at strangers.
I have a hunch not a single Amish family will say yes to detecting their Property.
It is sad because they Buy up all the old Old Farm properties.
like this one I go by almost every time I go out to hunt lately.

The orange triangle on the back of the buggy reminds me of a trip I took to my brother's in Iowa. It was in January and the roads were very icy. I had just regular tires on my car and I was driving very slow. My brother told me I need one of those triangles or I was going to be the first vehicle in Iowa rear-ended by a horse. :)

Lebanon but a stones throw from Berks...

Looks like a hot rod of buggies.
Maybe the owner is like an Amish greaser. All the Amish babes are hot for him.
"Have you seen Jedediah's new buggy?", whispered Mary to Edna, in bible study group...

Kidding aside, I bet it would be a good life, not having to deal with all our technology and super fast paced lives. There's something to be said for living so simply. (Especially if Mary's at all hot.)

Ya know, they take a lot of flack for being " different " and some people resent the religious tax break, but I really respect their unshakeable faith and like you said, the simple, extremely hard working members of the Amish and Mennonite communities are something a lot of people could learn from.
