it looks like half of a GOTHIC CLASP, used to hold a cape shut. WICCANS & ROCKERS are into these types of ornaments around here. several shops at the mall carry items like it. I BELIEVE IT GOES SIDWAYS

It looks like its an amulet with Bridgids cross on it. Pagan/Wiccan symbol.
