I found this falling out of bluff on a friends ranch with lots of other flakes, shells and debitage. I’m really not sure what to think about it. Is it a crude and very old uniface point? Is it just a flake in a familiar shape?
I recall reading on here about a description of a cache of arrows someone found in the desert southwest. It was something along the lines of 180 arrows. Most were simply sharpened wooden tips. There were many with finely knapped stone tips and a bunch with just sharp chips of stone glued into the fore shaft. Maybe this is one of those?
As always, any input is appreciated. Thanks y’all and Happy New Year!

Looks like a small point with alot of use wear, no clue on type.

I’ve never found a uniface point before. Kind of a new one for me. I can’t type it either.

That’s an interesting Unifacial or Flake Point. Important question; Is it made from local materials? And, does it have typological significance?

I’m going to guess, that although rare, these crude/expedient Flake Points can be found in all regions.

Here’s one that I found in SE MA. It’s made of a well known local lithic called Braintree Felsite. Although it’s Uni-faced and made from a broad flake, it does have a well-finished slightly bifurcated base.

It’s a tough one to type.

It is made from a local lithic, Monterey chert. I can’t really type it but it does somewhat resemble an alkali. Alkali are typically found in the Sierras and Great Basin, about 150 plus miles away. They are also true arrow heads. I also found a piece of finely worked obsidian nearby which would have been traded in from far off.
I’ve never found a uniface point before and this find left me questioning what I think I know. To me, it’s just too right to not be a point.
I always appreciate input. Thanks!
