I actually found this copper coin weeks ago and had it sit in olive oil as I could not read anything at all. I was expecting this coin to become a new member of the "welcome to the dead coin club".......but see how much dirt the glass fibre eraser (Läufer 1021 took off (I'm not getting paid by the company but have been looking for a way to clean these old copper so I can read them a little bit. Enough to know what they are. Hopes this info helps other people, too as I have ruined too many old coppers on the way of finding a good way to clean them.
Here I have a 1/4 STUBER 1794
It took me about 1 hour and 1 refill stick. Almost no pressure and circular motion in both directions did the trick.
All acids like vinegar or lemon juice ruin old coppers instantly.
